Marc Lalonde Memorial Foundation
The MLM Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization created to honour the life of Marc Lalonde. The foundation will support strengthening and resilience in individuals, families and community programs.
Our Story
On November 22, 2020, Marc Lalonde suffered from a dark space, from which he found no light. Marc passed away 4 months shy of his 50th birthday. Looking through blurry eyes, shock and grief beyond description; the Lalonde, Dowling and Shein families grappled with a way to let Marc’s passion, support, vision, love of family and community live on.

Breaking the Stigma
Depression, stress and anxiety are not diagnoses evident on an X-ray or MRI, but they are every bit limiting or debilitating as a physical injury, especially when they occur in young people.
Breaking the stigma of suicide and mental health requires a collective effort to raise awareness. Educate the public and promote open dialogue about this second leading cause of death amoungst youth and young adults.
Do you or someone you know need to talk?

SPEECH THAT CONCLUDED MY PRESENTATION ON MENTAL HEALTH
If you think mental health doesn’t affect you, you are wrong. Mental health does not only affect the sick or the hurting. Mental health affects everyone, and it affects everyone differently. Marc Lalonde is my uncle; he was the last person id expect to commit suicide. Its sad to say, but I didn’t know much about the effects of suicide or mental health before he died. Through life he taught me to laugh, play, and the importance of hard work, and now even through death he continues to teach me and others about the importance of mental health. I encourage everyone today to not think of this as sad, but to use it as a resource and way of education around mental health, which I believe is exactly what my uncle would have wanted. Thank you.
BLURB ON FAHIM KARMALI
After learning about Marc Lalonde and the impact that his story had on the school, Fahim Karmali had an idea to use November (men’s health month) to raise money through the school for The Foundation. Karmali is a local teacher in SD43, currently at Charles Best High School, and has been coaching and volunteering with CMFSC for a number of years. With the help of the school, students and parents, he was able to raise over $1400 dollars.
Thank you,
Kaylen Lomas
